How Blue Origin's explosion affects NASA's moon plans
Space.com
Happy Monday, space fans!

The week is already off to an explosive start as we continue to see the fallout from Blue Origin's New Glenn explosion last week. We also dive into some strange science as researchers explore the reality of using solar sails to explore far beyond our solar system and astronomers investigate the weird world of black hole mergers.

And if you missed any of the spectacular skywatching this weekend  —  most notably, the full Blue minimoon we had last night  — or if you want to relive the magic, we have an incredible variety of images that show the incredible beauty in the night sky. Check out what's big in space below!

And that's it for our space update today!

We continue to follow Blue Origin's explosive rocket situation and what it might mean for the future of the Artemis program and the United States' return to the moon. Already described as a "pretty significant setback," this disastrous event coincides with NASA's lead-up to Artemis 3 and China's newly-announced timeline to land humans on the moon by 2030, adding pressure to the evolving race to the lunar surface.

Beyond this explosion, we will also have the scoop on the meteor that fell to Earth this past weekend. Onlookers across New England have reported hearing a loud sonic boom created by the meteor.

And stay tuned as we dive into new developments in commercial space, the latest going on between SpaceX and the U.S. Space Force, weird new galaxy findings, and even a new way to keep tabs on your dog - from space.
