Stunning auroras seen across the globe
Skywatchers around the world were treated to stunning auroras that surged far beyond their usual polar limits, lighting up mid-latitude skies during a severe G4 geomagnetic storm. We have the full story and jaw-dropping images for you on our website.

In other news, a team of 6,500 "Elite Dangerous" players have embarked a community-led journey to the deepest reaches of the Milky Way galaxy that will last for around 3 months, solar system comet C/2024 E1 (Wierzchos) makes its closest approach to the sun today and the James Webb Space Telescope sees galaxies aging faster than expected.

As it's also Trivia Tuesday, and our quiz of the week is all about the fundamental theories in astronomy, from the Big Bang to general relativity.

We have all that and more for your daily read.
