Giant radio telescope sees Artemis 2 astronauts

Happy Monday, space fans!

I hope you got some rest over the weekend, because we've got a full week of wild space news ahead of us.

We are still counting down to SpaceX's upcoming Starship V3 which has been delayed a day but is still on track to launch this week. Space is hard, and we've seen things go wrong with Starship launches in the past, so we hope that despite the delay we will soon see the newest version of Starship blast off successfully.

We also have an asteroid the size of a blue whale hurtling toward Earth today. You might be wondering why this isn't the first line of news and why I'm even sitting here typing this instead of running around and screaming. And that is because even though the asteroid will be heading in our direction, Earth is totally secure and there is no cause for alarm. (We promise)

In other news, NASA's Mars helicopter broke the speed of sound (and you can watch it on video!), SpaceX successfully dropped off some new cargo for the crew aboard the ISS, and between Manhattanhenge and some bright planets, we have some spectacular skywatching in the works coming up.

Check out what's big in space below!

NASA's Artemis 2 astronauts had quite the view on their "roadtrip" to the moon. In this image, captured by the astronauts onboard the mission's Orion capsule "Integrity," you can see the swirling stars of space from the window as the crew journeyed from our home planet to the moon.

And that's it for our space update today!

Stay tuned as we continue to count down to SpaceX's Starship V3 launch - to those following along closely, it has been delayed by a day but is still on track for a launch this week as early as Wednesday.

Coming up, we see incredible new science in the field of exoplanets, or planets outside of our solar system. We'll have to wait and see what strange alien worlds have been found next.

We'll also have new findings on how we use satellites to track wildfires, the future of lunar rovers and outposts, and the discourse on all things 'Star Wars' is heating up in a serious way.
