Colorado-based Boom's XB-1 test vehicle is scheduled to lift off on its 12th test flight from California's Mojave Air & Space Port today at around 11:00 a.m. EST today, if everything goes according to plan.

Amateur and professional astronomers alike have been delighted by the spectacular display provided by Comet 2024 G3 (ATLAS) during mid and late January. After it made its closest pass to the sun (perihelion) on Jan. 13, the comet became very bright, and shortly thereafter developed a significant and strongly structured tail.

SpaceX launches 21 Starlink satellites to orbit from Florida

SpaceX launched another batch of its Starlink internet satellites from Florida's Space Coast yesterday. A Falcon 9 rocket carrying 21 Starlink spacecraft, including 13 with direct-to-cellphone capability, lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 5:05 p.m. EST (2205 GMT).

Mars mounds reveal clues to ancient watery past

Thousands of Martian mounds rich in clay minerals have been identified by researchers, suggesting that Mars' northern plains were once flooded with water, according to a study in Nature Geoscience. "The mounds preserve a near-complete history of water in this region within accessible, continuous rocky outcrops," said Joe McNeil, who led the research.
