Wednesday welcomes the Lunar New Year, during which families, loved ones and even astronauts gather around the world to eat traditional holiday foods and pay their respects to their ancestors. In a video, the crew of the current Shenzhou-19 mission held up paper cuttings of the Chinese character 福 (fu, meaning "good luck" or "fortune") and sent home a holiday greeting.

India just launched its first mission of 2025. The Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) lifted off from Satish Dhawan Space Centre on schedule yesterday at 7:53 p.m. EST (0053 GMT and 6:23 a.m. local time on Jan. 29).

Boom Supersonic made history yesterday when its XB-1 jet broke the sound barrier for the first time. The XB-1 went supersonic two additional times during the flight, at about 17 and 22 minutes after takeoff, to allow pilots to test the jet's handling performance during supersonic flight.
