In the News The artificial intelligence tool ChatGPT has been making headlines since it debuted last November. The chatbot can answer questions, write code and even come up with stories. In the past week alone, the AI system has generated controversy by being used to write mass emails to students and author self-published books on Amazon.  Many schools and educators are now grappling with how to handle the chatbot, as students use it to ghostwrite assignments and answer questions on exams. Some districts have banned ChatGPT due to concerns about safety and academic integrity. But other people think ChatGPT could fill useful roles as a tutor, collaborator or even lesson plan generator.
