Happy Friday space fans!
The weekend may be coming but there is still lots happening in the world of space news and science, starting with burrowing dry ice on Mars that mimics the famed worms in 'Dune.'

Other headlines for today include a guide for seeing Comet Swan as it appears on October 21, the first private space station is coming soon and Cosmonauts on the ISS ditch an old HDTV camera into space.

It's also Friday so as we head into the weekend we have your weekly staff recommendations of "what we're reading/playing/watching." You'll find those suggestions from our team at the bottom of your newsletter. We have all that and more for your daily read.

Keep looking up,

What we're reading/playing/watching

Whether you're looking to unwind with a mind-bending sci-fi series or lose yourself in a video game during the coming weekend, we've got you covered. Here's what the Space.com team is enjoying at the moment:

Ian Stokes, Entertainment Channel Editor: "I'm replaying Halo Infinite, which is very space themed. It's good fun so far. The gunplay is second to none, but there is a real lack of variety in levels and locations compared to other Halos."

Tariq Malik, Editor-in-Chief: "I have just started 'Project Hail Mary' by Andy Weir. I also have been absolutely loving all of the Halloween awesomeness of Fortnitemares 2025 in Fortnite right now because it is so much fun. If you see a level 139 astronaut running around, it might be me."

Brett Tingley, Editor: "I'm bingeing 'Tales from the Crypt' for the spooky season. Such a classic from a great period in television - and with a killer theme from legendary composer Danny Elfman!"

Anthony Wood, Skywatching Writer: "I'm on Season 4 Episode 2 of Critical Role. I can't believe that they've already [REDACTED FOR SPOILERS]."
