This November 18, hang a rainbow flag in the science lab for LGBTQ+ STEM Day. This holiday honors the contributions of queer people to science, technology, engineering and math — and aims to raise awareness about the discrimination that many LGBTQ+ people still face in STEM fields.

On Science News Explores, find profiles of LGBTQ+ scientists and engineers who share their experiences overcoming adversity to find a place in STEM. (Also find stories that spotlight the experiences of specific communities, such as transgender and nonbinary people in STEM.)
