Rocket Lab launching Earth-observing radar satellite today

Rocket Lab will launch a private Earth-observing radar satellite today (July 30), and you can watch it live. An Electron vehicle is scheduled to lift off from Rocket Lab's New Zealand site today during a two-hour window that opens at 12:15 p.m. EDT (1615 GMT; 4:15 a.m. on July 31 New Zealand time).

Boeing's Starliner tests thrusters docked at the ISS

The first Boeing Starliner to fly astronauts to space performed a crucial in-space test Saturday (July 27) as the next mission faces a months-long delay. Engineers tested Starliner's reaction control system (RCS) thrusters to prepare for a wider agency review that will evaluate the spacecraft's readiness for landing NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams sometime in August, if all goes to plan.

Atlas V rocket launches its final national security mission

United Launch Alliance's (ULA) venerable Atlas V rocket flew its final national security mission on Tuesday morning (July 30). The Atlas V launched from Florida's Canaveral Space Force Station on Tuesday at 6:45 a.m. EDT (1045 GMT), on a classified mission for the U.S. Space Force called USSF-51.

SpaceX fires up Starship spacecraft ahead of 5th test flight
(SpaceX)
SpaceX ignited the engines on its newest Starship spacecraft recently to gear up for a coming test flight, which could be just a few weeks away. The company performed a "static fire" with the 165-foot-tall (50 meters) Starship upper stage on Friday afternoon (July 26) at its Starbase facility, near the South Texas city of Brownsville.

A family of meteorites called "chondrites" is theorized to have delivered the right stuff for life to Earth.
