NASA CONNECTS is excited to offer its community members and their K-12 students this exclusive opportunity to join a live, virtual event with astronaut José Hernández. Don’t forget to register for this unforgettable interactive event on Sept. 22, where students will learn from José and get a chance to ask him questions. Upon completion of the virtual connection, students will be challenged to complete a Propulsion With Space Launch System activity. Educators will then share the students’ activity results through the NASA CONNECTS community of practice.

Embark on an adventure with Callie Rodriguez, the star of NASA's first digital, interactive graphic novel. Inspire the next generation of explorers  the Artemis Generation  with her adventures as the first woman to explore the Moon.

NASA’s App Development Challenge gives middle and high school student teams the opportunity to contribute to solving a NASA technical problem related to deep space exploration missions. In this year’s coding challenge, student teams will develop an app that visualizes the South Pole region of the Moon, displaying essential information for communication and navigation. During the challenge, teams will participate in live virtual connections with NASA subject matter experts to learn more about coding, app development, space communications, and navigation.

Educators and students in grades 6-12 are invited to join the NASA TechRise Virtual Field Trip. Drop in any time between noon and 4 p.m. EDT on Sept. 22 to hear from an exciting array of NASA speakers, participate in moderated Q&A, and visit a virtual expo hall. Throughout the event, participants will learn more about the NASA TechRise Student Challenge, high-altitude balloons, what it’s like to work in STEM, and the excitement of getting hands-on with a research or technology project.
Audience: Graduate students who are U.S. citizens
Application Deadline: Sept. 23

The NASA GISS Climate Change Research Initiative seeks applicants for a yearlong internship opportunity for graduate student research assistants. Students will work with NASA scientists and lead research teams in a NASA research project related to climate change. This opportunity will not conflict with coursework and class schedules during the fall and spring. The internship is considered a part-time position that supports each graduate student’s major area of study.
Audience: Full-time 9-12 STEM educators who are U.S. citizens
Application Deadline: Sept. 23
 
This yearlong STEM engagement opportunity allows high school STEM educators to work with NASA scientists, lead research teams, and develop STEM curricula for their current classes.

Educators participating in this opportunity will become associate researchers who integrate NASA education resources and content into their classrooms while improving STEM education within their communities.
