Virgin Galactic launching Galactic 05 Thursday morning

Galactic 05 is scheduled to lift off from Spaceport America in New Mexico today (Nov. 2) at 9 a.m. MDT (10 a.m. EDT; 1400 GMT). Two of the three Galactic 05 passengers' names were released last month, and the pair happen to already be well known in the space industry.

Lucy spacecraft completes 1st flyby of asteroid 'Dinky'

NASA confirmed its Lucy spacecraft successfully completed a flyby of asteroid Dinkinesh, a relatively small space rock located in the main belt between Mars and Jupiter. This marks a milestone in Lucy's journey, as Dinkinesh, or 'Dinky,' is the first of 10 asteroids the probe will visit over the next 12 years.

The entire continent will see a partial solar eclipse, with the all-important path of totality heading from northwest Mexico through the U.S. to southeastern Canada. That path will be 115 miles (183 kilometers) wide, on average, and only within it will it be possible to experience darkness in the day and glimpse the sun's corona for up to 4 minutes 28 seconds.

SpaceX, NASA delay CRS-29 cargo launch to Space Station

NASA and SpaceX have delayed the Cargo Dragon CRS-29 mission launch to the International Space Station to Tuesday (Nov. 7) at 9:16 p.m. EST (1316 GMT), agency officials wrote in an email update Thursday (Nov. 1). Space.com will carry the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch live, courtesy of NASA Television.

Water system could aid Artemis astronauts tested on ISS

Water dispensers are essential items in space that have been used for generations. Crew members depend on these systems for drinking, as well as hydrating dry food and performing scientific experiments. With the addition of the new dispenser, ISS astronauts now have at least three locations where they can find drinkable water.
