Hubble telescope's largest infrared image ever peers back 10 billion years

The largest near-infrared image of galaxies ever taken by the Hubble Space Telescope has provided a playground for astronomers who are seeking out potential targets for the James Webb Space Telescope.

The image is the result of a project called 3D-DASH and was captured by the Hubble Space Telescope's Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3), with additional archive data from Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys. It spans 1.35 square degrees of the sky, equivalent to about six full moons, and contains thousands of galaxies.

Watch SpaceX launch communications satellite, land rocket today!

SpaceX will launch a communications satellite and land the returning rocket on a ship at sea today, and you can watch the action live.

A two-stage Falcon 9 rocket carrying Nilesat 301, a satellite that will be operated by the Egyptian company Nilesat, is scheduled to launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida Wednesday at 5:04 p.m. EDT (2104 GMT).

Discovery of second repeating fast radio burst raises new questions

An international team of astronomers have discovered a second persistently active fast radio burst, posing questions about the nature of the mysterious phenomena.

Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are intense, brief flashes of radio-frequency emissions, lasting on the order of milliseconds. The phenomenon was discovered in 2007, by graduate student David Narkevic and his supervisor Duncan Lorimer.

Ukrainian rocket company Promin Aerospace, which is currently developing an ultralight, autophagic launch vehicle, has conducted a new series of studies on its unique engine.

The concept of the rocket is based on autophagic, or "self-devouring," technology, which was initially proposed by Promin Aerospace's chief technical officer Vitaliy Yemets.

NASA picks experiments for commercial delivery to moon in 2026

Privately developed spacecraft will carry a new suite of science gear to the moon in 2026 to support NASA's Artemis lunar exploration program, if all goes according to plan.

The agency has selected two sets of instruments as a part of its Commercial Lunar Payload Services initiative, which aims to study the moon's history and environment using gear delivered by privately developed landers and rovers.

The asteroid missed the planet by more than 2.2 million miles (3.5 million kilometers), about 10 times the moon-Earth distance, at its closest approach, which occurred Monday morning.

SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk said the company likely won't take its Starlink branch public for another three to four years, CNBC reported June 7, citing a presentation that the billionaire entrepreneur gave to SpaceX employees at an "all hands" meeting last week.
