But is this really the best way to understand paranoid beliefs? The pseudoscience of eugenics enjoyed huge popular support for 60 years, but its spectre is raised again with the advent of gene editing to change the DNA of unborn children. FIND OUT MORE A BRIEF HISTORY OF YOUR BRAIN Emma Byrne, Author   Emma will take a look at the secrets of our species' adaptability, which can be found in the radical rewirings we all experience in the first two decades of life. She will explore the details of our development, from the reasons why humans are uniquely precocious at hearing, but terrible at knowing how our bodies work, and why babies won't go to sleep and teenagers can't get up. But that's not true. Cancer has always been with us. It killed our ancient ancestors, the mammals they evolved from and the dinosaurs that trampled the ground before that. Why? Because cancer is a bug in the system of life. In this talk Kat Arney will take us to the dawn of life on planet Earth right up to the present day to get to the heart of what cancer really is and how, by better understanding its evolutionary journey, we might one day overcome it.
