The innermost edge of the black hole (known as the event horizon) was recently captured in a remarkable image from the Event Horizon Telescope. Sagittarius A* was observed at the same time using NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory and other X-ray observatories to reveal what is happening farther out from the event horizon. Look at the first image of our very own supermassive black hole's shadow and its larger field of view, listen to sonifications of Sagittarius A*, or use a 3D printer to discover the area through touch.
