In many places, spring has finally sprung. There’s nothing like a bit of warm weather and some new blooms to make you appreciate Mother Earth — and no better way to show that appreciation than celebrating Earth Day on April 22. Join millions of people across the globe for this annual event to support environmental protection efforts.

The official Earth Day site has plenty of ways to get involved, from joining a local cleanup, to petitioning for a more sustainable fashion industry, to cooking up climate-friendly recipes. And Science News for Students has covered many ways that teens can help the Earth in their everyday lives by cutting the energy impacts of their gaming and streaming activities, creating healthier local soils and more. We’ve also covered student activists who are pressuring world governments to take action on climate change, and student scientists who are finding new ways to adapt to our changing planet.
