Earth Day 2022 Poster and Virtual Backgrounds Decorate your space with this year's poster illustrating how Earth's systems are connected. Virtual Workshops to Celebrate Girls in Information and Communication Technologies Day Audience: Students in Grades 6-12 Contact: lindsay.yesenko@nasa.gov   Do you want to learn about coding and cybersecurity with NASA? The Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) program is hosting a series of free virtual workshops to celebrate Girls in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Day. Girls in ICT Day is a worldwide effort to encourage girls to study and work in the ICT field. Register to attend one or more of the following sessions: April 25 at 5:30 p.m. EDT: Create Your Own Website April 26 at 6 p.m. EDT: Cybersecurity Basics April 27 at 6 p.m. EDT: Internet Safety April 28 at 5 p.m. EDT: Superstar Panel Discussion New STEMonstration: Area and Volume In this new STEMonstration episode, students are invited to watch as astronauts aboard the International Space Station discuss how the U.S. Destiny module was designed so that every cubic inch of volume is used efficiently. Astronauts give a tour of the orbiting module and discuss how engineers use area and volume calculations to strategically design the space for use in microgravity. The classroom connection released with this video provides a hands-on opportunity for students to learn how to calculate the surface area and volume of a room and challenges students to redesign their room for use in microgravity.   To watch this STEMonstration and conduct the corresponding activity, visit the STEM on Station website. NASA Opportunities for Higher Education 2022 NASA L’SPACE Academy Audience: Undergraduate STEM Students Application Deadline: May 15 Contact: LSPACE@asu.edu   The NASA Lucy Student Pathway Accelerator and Competency Enabler (L'SPACE) Academy is a free, online, interactive program for students interested in pursuing a career with NASA or other space organizations.   L'SPACE consists of two academies – the Mission Concept Academy and the NASA Proposal Writing and Evaluation Experience Academy. Students may participate in one academy per semester. Each 12-week academy is designed to provide unique, hands-on learning and insight into the dynamic world of the space industry. Students can expect to learn NASA mission procedures and protocols from industry professionals as they collaborate with fellow team members to complete mission-related team projects. NASA Aeronautics University Student Research Challenge Audience: Students at Accredited U.S. Colleges and Universities Information Session: May 9 at 2 p.m. EDT Proposal Deadline: June 23 Contact: HQ-USRC@mail.nasa.gov   NASA’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate and the Space Grant Office seek proposals for new aeronautics ideas/concepts relevant to NASA. Selected teams will receive grants for their projects and be responsible for raising a modest amount of cost-share funds through a crowdfunding platform. The process of creating and preparing a crowdfunding campaign acts as a teaching accelerator, requiring students to develop entrepreneurial skills.
