Friday, June 20, marks the arrival of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Celebrate the longest day of the year and use the summer solstice as a spark for STEM learning with a fun printable puzzle and science explainer resources.

Last Call for Moon Mascot Entries!

There are just a few days left to submit your designs! People of all ages from all over the world are invited to design the zero gravity indicator for the Artemis II mission. This small plush object will fly around the Moon inside the Orion capsule to indicate when the Artemis II astronauts reach the weightlessness of space. Submissions must include drawings or renderings of the object and a short description of the design.


Submissions are due Monday, June 16.

2025 Virtual Space Biosciences Training Course: STAR

Spaceflight Technology, Applications, and Research (STAR) is a virtual NASA training course focused on the science and technology behind biological experiments in space. STAR is designed to encourage networking and collaborations in spaceflight technologies, applications, and research across all areas interested in space and biological sciences. This course aims to facilitate the entry of researchers into space biology in preparation for conducting spaceflight experiments using NASA and commercial platforms.

 

The annual course targets principal investigators, senior research scientists, and postdoctoral scholars. Course curriculum covers fundamental and applied aspects of the field of space biology, as well as practical aspects of preparing for, conducting, and analyzing the results of spaceflight experiments.

NASA Space Technology Mission Directorate Early Career Faculty Solicitation

NASA’s Space Technology Mission Directorate is seeking proposals from accredited U.S. universities on behalf of outstanding early-career faculty members who are beginning independent research careers. The Early Career Faculty solicitation seeks to tap into the talent base of highly skilled engineers, scientists, and technologists at U.S. universities. Early-career faculty are challenged to examine the theoretical feasibility of new ideas and approaches that are critical to making space exploration, space science, and other civil space pursuits more effective, affordable, and sustainable.

 

Proposals are sought on the following two topics: 1) Advanced Diagnostics for High-Enthalpy Test Facilities Simulating Spacecraft Atmospheric Entry, and 2) Planning for Autonomous Spacecraft Using Machine Learning Methods to

Enable Onboard Guidance, Navigation, and Control. Grants will be funded up to $250,000 each per year, with a maximum duration of three years.
