NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab laying off 5% of its workforce

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Southern California -- which manages many of NASA's high-profile robotic missions, such as the Perseverance and Curiosity Mars rovers -- announced Tuesday (Nov. 12) that it will lay off about 325 employees, or roughly 5% of its workforce.

Aging NASA hardware: 'spacesuits aren't spring chickens'

The commander of SpaceX's Crew-8 astronaut mission says that NASA continues to prioritize safety while co-managing an aging space station. The International Space Station (ISS) and the spacesuit that spacewalking NASA astronauts wear, known as the extravehicular mobility unit (EMU), are both decades old. And it's the age of this hardware that has led to issues with both recently, NASA astronaut and Crew-8 commander Matthew Dominick told reporters on Friday

NASA astronaut Suni Williams refutes tabloid health claims

Don't believe the tabloids: NASA astronaut Suni Williams says she's doing just fine aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Last week, media outlets such as The Daily Mail and The New York Post published stories speculating that Williams' health may be deteriorating in Earth orbit, citing an outside doctor's opinion that she looks "gaunt" in some recent photos. NASA officials quickly refuted those claims, saying Williams and the other three agency astronauts currently living on the ISS are in good health. And now, Williams herself has delivered the same message.

"Andor" is coming back in just five months. The sensational "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" spinoff series debuted on Disney+ in 2022 and was given high praise by both discriminating critics and avid fans for its intelligent storytelling and compelling performances. "Andor" fills in the backstory of Diego Luna's Cassian Andor character some five years prior to the events of director Gareth Edwards' fateful 2016 prequel to "Star Wars: A New Hope."
