What time is the SpaceX Crew-8 launch on March 2?

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch four astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) for NASA on the Crew-8 mission. Liftoff is currently now scheduled for Saturday (March 2) at 11:16 p.m. EST (0416 March 3 GMT) from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, but exactly when the mission launches will depend on weather and the launch vehicle's readiness.

Houston-based company Intuitive Machines shut down its robotic Odysseus spacecraft on Thursday (Feb. 29) ahead of the onset of a long, cold lunar night. Seven days earlier, the solar-powered lander became the first-ever private spacecraft to touch down softly on the moon, and the first U.S. vehicle to do so since Apollo 17 achieved the feat in 1972.

SpaceX Crew-8 launch to space station March 2: Watch live

The crew members' spacecraft, SpaceX's Crew Dragon Endeavor, will ride atop a Falcon 9 rocket from the historic Launch Complex-39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Liftoff is currently scheduled for no earlier than Saturday, March 2 at 11:16 p.m. EST (0419 GMT on March 3). Liftoff had been scheduled for early Friday morning (March 1), but bad weather forced a delay.

Perseverance spots Ingenuity's snapped-off rotor

The blade was broken - and, still unforged, it's been found on Mars. Space fans scouring the raw images from NASA's Perseverance rover recently spotted the broken helicopter blade from Ingenuity lying on the sands of Mars. Ingenuity is permanently grounded as a result of the blade-snapping incident, a hard landing that occurred at the end of its Jan. 18 flight.
