NASA Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) has partnered with Therapy Materials Vault (TMV) to create five new space communications-themed occupational therapy activities. These free activities are designed to help young learners reach their full potential by making fine-motor, social, emotional, and cognitive gains. Activities include “Cosmic Connect the Dots,” “Galactic Letter Writing,” “Stamp the Stars,” “Stylin’ in Space,” and “Spot the Difference in the Cosmos.”

The NASA TechRise Student Challenge invites student teams to submit science and technology experiment ideas to fly on a high-altitude balloon. Students attending U.S. public, private, or charter schools – including those in U.S. territories – are challenged to team up with their schoolmates to design an experiment under the guidance of an educator. A total of 60 winning teams will be selected and awarded $1,500 to build their experiment and will receive an assigned spot on a high-altitude balloon and technical support from Future Engineers.
Audience: Full-time undergraduate and graduate students and faculty at Space Grant-affiliated colleges/universities
Notice of Intent Deadline: Sept. 30
Entry Deadline: Jan. 24, 2023
 
The 2023 Breakthrough, Innovative and Game-changing (BIG) Idea Challenge seeks proposals from student teams outlining technologies that will enable the production of lunar infrastructure from in-situ resource utilization-derived metals found on the Moon. Key products desired are storage vessels for liquids and gases, pipes, power cables, and supporting structures. Proposals can range from $50,000 to $180,000 and focus on any part of the product production pipeline* from prospecting to testing (*exclusions apply). This competition is sponsored by NASA’s Space Technology Mission Directorate and the National Space Grant College Project, and managed by the National Institute of Aerospace.
