My formal 2024 solar eclipse apology
(Josh Dinner)
A guy standing next to me, who had just asked me for advice about his solar eclipse glasses in a serious tone, was screaming "bro, look at the sky." I almost cried, and I didn't know if it was because of the eclipse or if it was because of myself. Suddenly, I couldn't see anything through my lenses anymore. The sun was gone. Someone nearby yelled "take them off!" to no one in particular. I did, and I saw totality.

Car-sized asteroid is gives Earth a really close shave
(NASA)
The asteroid's closest approach distance to Earth occurred at 2:28:42 p.m. EDT (18:28:42 GMT) on Thursday, at a distance of 11,600 miles (18,700 kilometers). That's closer than some geostationary satellites in orbits just over 22,236 miles (35,785 km) above Earth.

Total Solar Eclipse 2024
No, you didn't see a solar flare during the total eclipse
(Petr Horálek, Josef Kujal, Milan Hlaváč)
During the recent total solar eclipse, you may have glimpsed what looked like explosive solar flares bursting from the sun after its fiery corona briefly came into view. But it turns out this was not the case. However, what you or others may have seen was equally impressive and just as beautiful.

(NASA)
The LRO, which has been orbiting the moon for 15 years, captured several images of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute's Danuri lunar orbiter as the two spacecraft, traveling in nearly parallel orbits, zoomed past each other in opposite directions during three orbits between March 5 and March 6, according to a statement from NASA.

Gravity waves reveal black hole and neutron star merging
(I. Markin (Potsdam University), T. Dietrich (Potsdam University and Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics), H. Pfeiffer, A. Buonanno (Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics)
Astronomers announced on April 5 that they may have detected a collision between a neutron star and a lightweight mystery object - an object larger than the largest known neutron star, but smaller than the smallest known black hole. The finding sheds light on objects that exist in this murky realm, which was long thought to be empty but, in recent times, has revealed otherwise.

SpaceX launching Falcon 9 first stage for a record 20th time
(SpaceX)
SpaceX is set to break its rocket-reuse record yet again. A Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to launch 23 of SpaceX's Starlink internet satellites to orbit from Florida's Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on Friday (April 12) during a three-hour window that opens at 9:22 p.m. EDT (0122 GMT on April 13). It will be the 20th liftoff for this particular Falcon 9 first stage, according to a SpaceX mission description, setting a new reusability mark for the company. The mission is also lifting off on the 43rd anniversary of NASA's first launch of its reusable spacecraft, the space shuttle, which first flew this day in 1981.

Fallout and space: Franchise's connections to final frontier
(Microsoft/Bethesda)
While some are yet to see what purpose the famous Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles serves in the Fallout TV series - which takes place in 2296, after the events of all the games released so far - we can infer from its brief appearance in the second trailer that the paramilitary order of the mighty Brotherhood of Steel may be using it as a base of operations for their missions in and around L.A.
